Self-Discovery Bali Retreat for Women
12-19 July 2025 | with Natalie Snooke
Self-discovery is knowing who we truly are and living life in the fullness of our authenticity, courage and love.
My rejuvenating, transformational eight-day women’s retreat in the tranquility of Ubud, Bali is a journey to rediscover yourself through yoga, coaching workshops, rice field walks and cultural learning.
- Embody the benefits of an integrated, daily yoga and meditation practice, led by a dedicated senior teacher.
- Experience the rich culture, simplicity and spirituality of Balinese temples and village life.
- Deepen your self-growth through facilitated group coaching sessions and sacred circles.
- Be nourished by quiet time, organic body treatments and delicious wholefoods.
More than just a yoga retreat in a beautiful setting, this Bali women’s retreat offers you the opportunity to shift inwardly ‘from the head to the heart’, allowing for inspiration and deeper fulfilment to unfold – both during and beyond the retreat.
“I felt very privileged to have been part of Natalie’s Bali Retreat. The experience is life changing and I feel I learned so much in such a short time. It’s hard to put a value onto this experience. I feel with Natalie’s guidance we all learned about the deeper meaning of our being. My experience has been truly amazing, thank you.” ~ Sabine
Sacred Bali and Spiritual Ubud
Bali is called the Island of the Gods, recognised internationally for her healing energy and vibrant Hindu culture. Magic truly happens here. Yet many-a-tourist to Bali misses her subtle and sacred essence.
When I facilitate retreats, I love to create a ‘home away from home’ experience. One where we can be at ease and our hearts can breathe a sigh of relief.
Our retreat home and activities are based in the villages of Campuhan and Penestanan about 20 minutes walk from Ubud’s centre. I’ve stayed in these villages many times.
The Campuhan river valley, where two rivers meet, was originally used as a place for meditation and is known for its magical power and plant medicines. It is also home to one of the biggest and most beautiful temples in Bali, holding colourful ceremonies and street parades. Penestanan is the artists village, with private lush alleyways to explore that weave between rivers and rice field terraces, still with farmers working on the land.
We will share in Balinese devotion, learning from the local women how to make daily offerings with flowers and incense. And a highlight of our program includes a visit to a Balinese water temple for a traditional Hindu Purification ceremony.
Accommodation and Meals
We stay at the beautiful Ananda Cottages Resort, an established retreat centre that has been a refuge place for yogis for over 30 years. Ananda is Sanskrit for ‘bliss’. And this will be my fourth group visit to Ananda.
Ananda’s property features three swimming pools and Balinese bungalows set in natural beauty amongst lush, tropical, butterfly-laden gardens and rice fields. Each bungalow has an outdoor garden bathroom with a bath tub, plus a private veranda space for relaxing. There are air conditioning and ceiling fans. And beds are fitted with mosquito nets. The lovely, quiet surrounds induce a deep sleep and allow you to wake-up to the sounds of nature, feeling rested and refreshed.
You’ll share in delicious buffet brunches – with both Balinese and western foods – all lovingly prepared inhouse with fresh, local, seasonal produce. Many women find this meal is substantial and lasts them for most of the day, especially in the warmer weather. Other meals are flexible and up to you – there is an abundance of cafes and restaurants to explore in your free time, all within walking distance of Ananda. Group evening dinners are provided on our welcome and closing nights, and other nights attending group dinners are optional.
The yoga shala (studio) is a special treat! It’s a spacious, open-aired pavilion, overlooking ponds and lush rice fields for as far as the eye can see. You’ll need to bring your own yoga mat. Other yoga gear like bolsters, blocks and straps is provided.
“The Bali Retreat was so special! It was a wonderful space just for myself, to reconnect with my true being once all the layers were stripped back. I am very much looking forward to another retreat. ” ~ Allanna
Self-Discovery On and Off the Yoga Mat
Everything offered on the retreat is invitational – that means you are invited to participate as fully as you can, without expectation or judgment. You are encouraged to prioritise your self-care. And to rest as much as you need to.
Our schedule is a gently-paced blend of group practice, solo free time, cultural and self-growth activities. You’ll have plenty of time to relax by the pool or to take a stroll.
Soon after sunrise, each day begins with a fully-guided yoga and meditation practice. It includes mantras, meditation, kriyas (cleansing practices) and pranayama (breathwork) for deeper integration. The yoga asana (postures) are a slow-flow vinyasa style, progressing from simpler to more complex postures, with options for students at all stages.
For balance, we’ll interchange with yin (cooling, quietening) and yang (warming, energising) approaches. Natalie offers steady guidance, clear instructions and creative sequencing – and gives personalised attention to each student. Participants can ‘take-home’ their favourite aspects of the morning practice, for their own continued use.
Some mornings and most afternoons include a group coaching session, sacred circle, creativity workshop or cultural excursion. The workshop will s focus on different aspects of your ‘personal’ growth – where we explore and go beyond thought, feelings, habits and behaviours to find our own expression and truth. Last year, we also enjoyed getting creative and making our own mandalas!
Natalie keeps it light-hearted! Through fun and experiential group activities and self-reflection exercises, you’ll be presented with a variety of philosophies and tools to help you uncover your own answers to some of life’s challenging questions. Your personal learning is also extended through a one-on-one coaching session with Natalie, to explore any insights or challenges.
My intention is that you’ll will leave with a clearer understanding of yourself, of what maters most to you and some action steps to implement to help you to integrate your learning and self-discoveries, when you get home.
“The Bali Retreat was excellent, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The water temple cleansing ritual was amazing! The reflection sessions really made me look inside myself and open up, they helped bring everyone out of their comfort zones and brought the group together. ” ~ Wendy
